Melbourne

This past weekend I went to Melbourne with some friends. We rented a car on Wedensday and drove through the night. When we arrived in Melbourne, Victoria

we went straight to Glicks for breakfast.

Glicks is right across from the Australian Stock Market (I guess its Australia's Wall St).

On the way into the city on our way to Glicks we were welcomed by a very well I anm not sure of the right words for this but he welcomed us to Melbourne.

Anyway while I was there I stayed at the Lowenthals home and I would like to thank them for that.
Friday was nice we went to Queen Victoria Market and got a bit lost on the way there but we got a little tour of the city in the process. Below is a picture of Australia's oldest shul.

A couple of months ago I parked my car infront of my shul in a legal spot{as usual}. While I was inside somebody backed in to my car messing up the whole thing and was gone like a Jewish foreskin. Thankfully someone saw and left a note on my car saying I saw the guy hit you and take of his plates said ASD 22L and that it was a white luxury SUV and he left his name and number. Being that it was late at night and couldn't call the police then I decided to go to the station the following day. After making the report and waiting a while I called them and they said it was being processed and nothing ever happened from it.

I told you that story to tell you this story.

This past Sunday night I was casually driving with a friend to a farbrengehn of another friend and we decided to take the scenic route. So we drove by The Gap which is one of the biggest suicide points in the world. Then we drove past Watsons Bay and on our way threw the bay area we drove up this one way street and I saw it. At first I wasn't sure but then it hit me like it hit my car all those months back. There stood a white BMW X5 with the plat numbers ASD 22L and a dent on the back bumper. It was late and the lights were off so I didn't confront the house nearest the car but I did take a few pictures for the cops.

Well life has been fairly quiet lately so I haven't posted in the past two weeks but now things have suddenly changed and are very exciting. With g-d's help and some money a few bochurim myself included will be making the ultimate gan yisroel winter camp. I went with a friend yesterday to see the beautiful camp grounds located 1 hr north of Sydney on milson island and we were very impressed. [I am learning photoshop and made this collage of some pics of the camp site]

oh before I forget I just want to inform those of you who are concerned about my health that I'm fine except my big toe on the right foot got severed nearly off and was stiched back together. Hatzolah was there in 6 minutes and the ambulance in 40. Sorry no pics due to a few requests.

Lag B'omer

It's a long story and I have time. So' here it is. Thursday afternoon I went to Avis to rent the car for he trip, although a carolla was reserved I pulled out n a camery, a red 2006 camery with 2000 kilometers on it. Anyway I brought it back to yeshivah to load but the car that we went to Avis in ran out of gas on the way back so I had to bring them some gas. We loaded the car and at about 8:45pm we pulled out.

One hour in to the trip we made our first stop and a branch of JB HI-FI. They are really popping up everywhere. We ran around the car snapped some pictures and went on our merry way. This continued for the next 12 hours with alternate drivers and sleepers. Being that it was the 32 of the omer for most of us we still couldn't listen to music but, we had some comedy to keep us entertained and awake.

At about 9:00am on Friday we arrived in Brisbane were we spent Shabbos. We immediately went to mikvah davened and prepared for Shabbbos.

There was no minyan Friday night but we had a nice one Shabbos day. I conducted the Friday evening services as well as shachris and haftara.

Motzie Shabbos we went to Rabbi Jaffe's home, the other rabbi from the shul we don't goto. We enjoyed a wonderful Melava Malka and we watched Agent Emes volume 3 on a big screen, it was great. After that we went for a tour of the city and stoped at 7-11 for something to eat and drink.

Then we went back to our dilapidated unearthly excuse for a house {if my grandmother say that house I guarantee you she would have it knocked down. I only have a picture of the outside because I don't want you to feel that bad for us.

The next day, Sunday we didn't know what to do so we decided to aimlessly drive around and find something todo. So, we got on to the freeway and saw a sign that said Herschel St and I liked the name so I pulled off the freeway and got a picture. We then went back on the highway and saw a sign for Sunshine Coast it sounded good so we decided to go. Along the way there were many interesting things that you could see in the pictures below including a guy drinking beer driving a car at 110kph with a baby in the back. We saw the sights and came back home.

The next morning we got off to an early start and were at Bribie Island by 10:30 after davening and all that. We rented a boat and made our way around the ocean for about 3 hours. Then we headed for Mullumbimby. Now, let me explain what Mullumbimby is. It's a "city". Now we have all heard off cites that are in the middle of nowhere. Oh, not our Mullumbimby, this is on the outskirts of nowhere this place made Louisville look like Manhattan.

Along the way we made a few stops and different interesting places and then took the scenic route which is 7 kilometers of dense forest oh, and it was pouring rain like it only could in a g-d forsaken distant property such as Mullumbimby. What was interesting as you can see in the picture below is that the front window has almost zero visibility but, the back window was dry!!! We lost satellite positioning for a bit on the way and cell phones were out for like a half hour. When we couldn't find the party we had to drive back 5 kilometers to get a signal on our cell phones, but, after much effort we finally made it.

The party was great and I met some really nice people after 2 or 3 hours of partying we decided to make our way back to Sydney. The trip was pretty uneventful after arriving safely daving sleeping and cleaning the car we brought it back with no complications, though they were curious how I put 3000 kilometers on the car in such a short period of time. But instead of answering in an answer for I asked a question. Why is it called mileage if it's kilometers? She said she didn't know.So, I said I didn't know how I got so many kilometers.

I was thinking, so I thought I'd post. I went home for Pesach and came back via L.A. and crossed the Pacific Ocean. Basically that means I missed a day, this makes counting the Omer a little complicated, being that I am one day behind everyone else. The hole world will celebrate Shavous on Friday and Shabbos besides for me {and a few other select individuals [some loosing a day some gaining a day]} I will be celebrating the holiday on Shabbos and Sunday. Now here is what I was thinking about. Being that I am a day behind counting 21 when everyone else counts 22 and counting 32 when everyone else counts 33. Can I partake in the festivities of Lag B'omer if its Lev B'omer for me?

Well, sorry I haven't posted recently I've been home and busy doing things to post about.
I guess I should fill you in from my departure until my arrival back in Australia.
so here it goes
My flight was scheduled to leave Sydney at 1:35pm on Wendsday. Upon my arrival at the airport I realized I had left my passport in yeshiva. Thankfully t was located and brought to me at the airport and all went well I landed in Los Angeles switched planes and at 10:30 Wendsday night I arrived in Pittsburgh. I preceded to rent a car and drive to my grandmothers house for the night. The next morning I did what had to done in Pittsburgh an drove home uneventful for the most part. When I got home my father and I unloaded the car and we went to return it to Avis. Somehow my father got the guy to give us a rate that wasn't really possible to get in those circumstances.

The next couple of days was pretty much just cooking and cleaning nothing to post about.But on Motzie Shabbos we went bowling.

Threw out that next week I kashered an old age home for Pesach and did a little hashgocha work too also uneventful.
the sedarim were great. My brother and sister in-law came for Pesach as well as My grandmother. The first Seder we had 22 people I think and a bit less the second night. The first day of chol hamoed after Shabbos we went on a family trip to the corvette museum.

Then we went to a nice park had a bbq and played baseball

The next day we went to the canopy tree walk which rises 75 feet over the forest floor. Basically its like a pier in to the forest you start off on level ground and walk along a path and when you get to the end you are 75 feet high.

The next day was erev yom tov so we had to go back to the coking and cleaning.
On Motzie Shabbos we went to see one of the biggest annual firework displays in the world. Which was in honor of the Kentucky Derby.

after yom tov I started looking for a way to get back to Australia and managed to get a mileage ticket but only from L.A. but after about 1000 phone calls and some good tactics the airline finally gave me a ticket out of Columbus so right after Shabbos I drove to Columbus and boarded a plane for L.A. where I spent my day. JB picked me up from the airport and we went to nagilah's and munchies.

then I went to the airport with Yitz and safely arrived in Sydney Tuesday morning.
That's pretty much it.

Three weeks ago a frend of mine asked me if I knew how to juggle and I said yes i knew how to juggle one week later he aproaches me again and says you are booked for a wedding on sunday the 19th as a juggler. Well,I kinda just shrugged it off like it was a joke. It wasnt. motzie shabbos i get a call on my cell during a farbrengen for a friend birthday and the messge was that you are juggling tommorow at a wedding. So basically i went to the wedding at about 6 for cocktails and the bar after a good friends lchaim that i attended that morning so I hadnt had a non alcoholic bevrage till around 730pm at the meal and thats only becouse there was nothing else to drink and i needed a drink between courses btw please do not get the impression that iam an alcoholic iam not alcoholics goto meetings iam a drunk anyway well iam not sure so just look at the pics and figure out the rest of the story.

THE PURIM STORY {abridged version}

Many many hours ago in a far away hemisphere in a weird country that is hanging on to the globe for its "dear" life lived a king his name was Chaim he ruled. okok enough of that, basically tanis ester ended with the laining of the miggilah which I expertly lained 5 times that night first in doublebay, then in some old woman's house, then in yeshivah, then in yeshivah, then in yeshivah. After the break-fast in my chabad house {Doublebay} I went to Dover Heights they had a pretty wild party going so, we ate, drank and were quite merry. Then I get a call from the rosh yeshivah begging me to go to this house to read the migilah, so I did. They paid me 20 bux au and a bottle of Jack Daniels, but, they are both long gone now. Then I went to South Head for some more rocking fun. They had a couple of pool tables, ping pong tables, and fuzzball tables, and some other games which are so exciting to play when you cant follow the stupid ball. They also had a bbq which was nice I had a double whopper, anyway then I went to yeshivah were there was live music and very lively dancing. I made the mistake of going outside to get a bit of air because the room we were dancing in had a poor air conditioner and the people that arranged the party were evidently not thinking well and hadn't bought any water, just carbonated sugery drinks which don't get me wrong are good, but everything has its time and place and this was neither the time nor the place for soda I needed water so when I got out side I has approached by three teenagers whom hadn't heard miggilah ever, not this year not last ........ so i lained for them. Then I went to get the fresh air I was talking about earlier I finally found it when, I get a call on my cell from my cousins cousin Chaim Hillel Markovitz to please lain for his mother who had moments before landed in Australia from L.A. were she had gone for her nieces wedding {mazel tov mazel tov} so I did. Then I went back inside to dance, eat, and drink which I did well if I may say so myself. Then I was about to go to a different party but on my way to my ride I got stooped by a young couple who hadn't heard miggilah yet, so I lained for them missing my ride, but altz is bihashgocho protis, the party ended before the guys got there so the only thing I missed was a ride in a car with 4 drunk guys and one who said he was sober, so then I went back to my eating, drinking, dancing, and drinking. I then crashed for the night in my bed, yes I made it to my bed at about 3:00am. Thankfully I had set my alarm clock the previous morning. I woke up at about 6:55 am { I didn't know that hour existed [the truth is I didn't know much when I woke up that morning]} because i had to lain at 7:30 in my chabad house so I got up and when I went to mikva I left the water a little red glee to it, which was comforting knowing I had a chance at getting it all out. Anyway I lained there, then came back to yeshivah davened and laind there, then went to Sydney high school and lained there, then I came back to yeshiah lained again. Then I delivered a bunch of shalochmanos, then I get a call that I was scheduled to lain five minutes ago wich by the way never happened the guy lied. Anyway being the nice guy I am I dropped the world almost knocking Australia off the globe, thankfully Hercules caught it, and I went to lain. After laining [17 minutes latter] people started coming for the Asian bufey purim party were we ate, drank, were merry, and drank, and as you may have guessed a few people came that hadn't heard miggilah, so, I lained once again then I continued parting there until around 9 pm when the party ended and I went to Dover Heights were there was a crazy awesome.... party going on, they had some famous people there like Johnny Depp {Captain Jack Sparrow} and P. Diddy. Anyway we partied there, sang, ate, drank, danced, drank, ate, and drank. Then I went to R. P Feldmas house for a farbrengen slash party wich was pretty cool to, or so they tell me. anyway I woke up in my bed the next morning, okok a little exaggeration the next afternoon and they lived happily ever after.

And yes the red did come out.

I was innocently driving down the street namely Militery road and when I attempted to slow down for an upcoming intersection when to my utter dismay nothing happened. Now when I say nothing happened I mean that when my foot hit the brake and intern the brake hit the floor there was neither sound nor effect. Needless to say I was a bit concerned for the welfare of my life and the life of the passenger. So, the intersection was quickly approaching and the car wouldn't slow down I hit the exelarator to go through the intersection faster so as not to get hit and was now going approximately 40kph. I was trying to figure out what to do, and then it struck me down shift, so I down shifted and slowed to about 15kph, then I went up a slight hill to slow me down to 10kph. This is the point when it all came to me, if I don,t stop my car within the next 15ft I would go down a hill, a very big hill, from my point of view it was more like a mountain. So, I pulled the emergency brake and came to a screeching halt. I WAS ALIVE. I AM ALIVE.

yesterday i went to the three banks in which i had put menorahs to retrieve them and a Ferreira spider 360 was parking so i went over to the driver with yitzi and we asked him for a ride and he agreed so here are the pics

After the amazing parade and menorah lighting Sunday night the first night of chanukah we had another amazing day and that night was a nice farbrengehn in rabbi yosef Feldman house and since we were all tired some guys fell asleep but all in all it was a very nice farbrengehn

during the farbrengehn yossi tried an all the shull hats and then one backwards i caught it all here it is

and then he gave us each $20 chanukah gelt

and by the way never drink and drive because all your senses become impaired your vision will look something like this

anyway the next day Tuesday we had the biggest chanukkah party in the hemisphere an estimated 5000 people attended we had a few shows a huge menorah lighting and lots of food and we ended the evening with a grand fire works show

channukah has finally arrived and praise the lord blessed be he we are making major kiddushin hashem I put a 5 and a half foot menorah in three different banks in different areas of Sydney one in bondi junction one in bondi beach and one in double bay
here is a pic of me transporting one of the menorahs to the bank

and last night we had a massive parade 104 menorahs that went to Martin Place where we lit a 30 Ft menorah the brochos were said by rabbi pinchas feldman and his son rabbi yossi feldman and the actual lighting was expertly performed by chaim litvin the menorah was put up the night before by a couple bochurim namely mendy weiss shmully davidof yanky bigs yanky levy mendel jaffe chaim litvin yitzi spalter shmulik and yitzchok the truck driver

during the parade we passed the world famous Oprah house with my trailer and 7 Ft menorah

and here is a pic of me two stories up on a plank of sagging wood on a scafold put together by 3 bochurim in a rush they say blind faith is a good thing and i believed them

Well chanukah is coming and it won't wait for anyone so I really gotta go because there a lot to do and less time to do it in so I will post some pics and go back to building the rest of the 104 menoahs for my parade and 3 5 ft ones to put in fornt of three of sydneys biggest banks{I know a guy who knows a guy to get that done} and I have lots to do for this chanukah at the bay party where I'm expecting 5000 people and I have to go pick up a menorah in a truck that I didn't rent yet so I really got to go

oh and by the way today I got pulled over for an alleged drunk driving charge but I passed the breathalizer test and the bloody copper let me go apparently there are some rioghts in the area I was going threw and I must have forgotten to take of my turban or something

Tuesday Dec 27 there will be b"eh a grand channukah party so mendy and I hung up a huge sign about 35 ft long we had to take down the marching to Bethlehem one to put ours up

and the cops came and asked what we were doing but said it was alright and we continued then this guy from a Jewish paper came and asked us some questions for the paper and took some pics of us for the paper

I would like to take the time to share a story with everyone
this Friday on mivtzoim I met an Israeli man who asked me were he could buy kosher food for shabbos. After I told him what he wanted to know I invited him to the shabbos mvarchim farbrengehn that mendy and I were making in the chabad house. I also told him the times of davening and the shiur before mincha on a sicho given by habochur hashliach chaim litvin. Anyway he came to mincha shabbos and we farbrenged it turns out that this guy is a doctor who lived in Singapore for the past five years and he said that habochur hashliach cholom loube is the happiest man in Singapore always with a joke or a kind word and a vort on the parsha.
with this said I would like to congratulate all the shluchim of the world at large for all their hard work and chasidishkiet like we see from this weeks parsha toldos that starts aileh toldos yitzchok which is similar to a month ago parshas noach aileh toldos noach why there is it noach and here toldos the answer my friends is shlichus nairos lehair the ikur toldos are those of yitzchok following in his ways lighting the path for world jewry with happiness {yitzchok lashon tzachok laugh} and joy unlike noach wich is a loshon of resting. May we merit to bring moshiach speedily in our days!!Amen.

This evening 9 bochurim hashluchim went to a krav maga course held in the south head shull the instructors were CSG {community security group} which is the Australian security for the shulls and they arranged the course

this past week has been great baruch hashem we had our first 2 shiurim on baser bchalav one from rabbi yosef feldman and one from rabbi lesches there was a beutful wedding sender kafka to a meleki girl very nice mendy weiss and i started working on chankah anyway i have o prepare for a shiur iam giving in anhour and a half and iam giving a speach tomorow and laining so have a good shabbos and ll post pics later

everyone says shmini atzers and simchas torah were gr8
hakofos were shmashing we had a case of glen some green lable chivas and many others
the first night r y berger davened for the amud i did psukai dizimra shachris and haftorah and r y berger did musaf that night i davend mincha berger did mariv then came the hakofos we partied in double bay for a few hours and then marhed onwards up a huge hill to yeshivh to continue and stoped on the way at a baalhabos's house to refuel then finished hakofos in yeshiva
the next day i did psukai dizimra and shachris and all 7 hakofos elimelech guth did haftorah and mendy weiss davened musaf and hes hegot soaked and was flippd but the bay is 8 blockes from the shul and we were to drunk to cary him there

the first days of sukkos were great its a nice walk to my chabad house chabad of double bay http://www.chabaddoublebay.org about a half hour each way the first day i davened shachris for the amud and medy weiss did psukai dizimra Amos a guy from the chabad houses father who is visiting from isreal did the haftora and r berger did musaf mendy and i ate in the rabbis house and farbrengened with some teenagers there anyway the next day i davened psukai dizimra and mendy did shachris i did haftora and r berger did musaf all in all a very nice yom tov today there are 2 parties at chabad of doublebay a pizza in the hut party for kids and a BBQ for the adults later on with a farbrengen and kumzitz at the end

hi it is currently 4:51 pm sunday october 16 in sydney
ezzy mendy weiss and i arrived on tuesday before yom kippor and abbitan was alreaddy here mendy and i were asingned to the double bay synagouge under rabbi yanky berger {shneur's brother} on yom kippor i ran a kids program after kol nidrie during maariv and in the afternoon after i led the congragation in pesukai dzimra and r yanky led shachris chaim farkas did musaf and mincha and r yanky did nielah then for shabbos mendy weiss went to melborne for his nefews bris mazel tov mazel tov hopefully he will come back today anyway ezzy went to the great synagouge i hear its a prety cool shul thats were the queen of england went on her australian tour and abbitan takes care of the kidds program in yeshiva
unfortunatly i left the charger for my camera at home so till i get it i wont be able to take man pictures but i hope to get it soon

rosh hashana was great and the rabbi's sermons were very inspiring as was the rest of the service
we had the same chazzan as we did the past many many years michoel asher horvitz
shachris mincha and kriyas hatorah was done by yoshua golding
musaf the first day was done by the chazan and the second day by the baal koreh
and i was gabbai

well i havent had much time to post in the past coupledays being that i thought i was going to the other side-of the world down under but to the dismay of some that will not be happening as soon as the hanholo of the underworld would like tickets are to expensive the day before you fly and thats when he told me i should come to auzie for roshhashna and today wensday is the last possible day to travel there before yomtov because its a 22 hour flight and a 14 hour time change ahead i would get there on shabbos if i left thursday and on yomtov if i left this sunday so iam leaving next sunday

since i now had some time but not much i built the chabad sukka mobile a 16x8 foot sukkah pulled by a suburban (pic to come) and now iam off to take care of bigger and better problems

well being that i know the people {not the people that know the people i know the actual people} in charge of the louisville vaad hakashrus i got hooked up with a job for friday and sunday in the hyatt regency hotel

well there is going to bo a anual chabad dinner on sunday

and iam the mashgiach the chef in the hyatt is a really nice really big man and he makes some prety good food ill take some pics tommorow

the mikva is a vital part of our jewish cultare for both men and woman but we wont get into that now nor will we get into making a hachlata to go to the mikva everyday {chai elul good time to start}...

but what i do want to tell you is how stupid some people are what does that have to do with mikva read on to find out

here in louisville kentucky we are privladged to have a beutiful mikva he hav a goy who kleens it all the time but yesterday he couldnt come so he asked a fellow janitor to do it
after janitor number two scrubbed the tiles for half an hour without noticable results he came flustered and confused to the rabbi {my father} and said "rabbi i tried it all i scrubed hard and i cant clean them daggon tiles they aint white yet" to which my father replied "well they were never white they are brown tiles"
this is a hole new level off stupid
this story is in compition with another true louisvile mikva story from a few years ago i dont remember all the details but here is the basics
the janitor comes to my father in total shock saying i dont get it i was cleaning the ritualarium and i got this crazy shock when i put the vaccum cleaner in the pool do you know what happened is it god talking to me

today i heard from a bochor in mancheter that while he was at the nat west bank it was alledgedly robbed thats right there were allsdgedly 4 men dressed in black with guns and they made off with alot of money no exact number has been disclosed yet and no one was injured

today was just another wonderful day of my life a fine gentelman asked me to go shooting with him it was an offer i could not refuse and let me tell you it was quite fun here are some pics of it

and here was with all 4 guns 2 .22calliber 1 9mm and a sawed off shotgun

the little holes are the spray from the shot gun so even if you miss the dude still dies

i hope this has nothing to do with next year{shlichus}
my brother got married and lives in crown heights my sister went to isreal for seminary my other brother is away in yeshiva and my other sister is in school in coral springs leaving an 8 yr old girl 6 yr old boy and a 2yr old girl at home with me and my parents{i think the ages are correct} and since my mother teachs in the schol all day and my father is busy being a rav and 2 off my siblings are runing around the house like mad men with strep throat and iam watching the other and cooking for shabbos i decided to make a briskit we are having a large crowd tonight so i had to make alot i didnt know were the recipies were so i did what i always do when all else fails i grilled it then forgot about it till my 2 yrold sister said fire and pointed out the window at dinner so i quickly got my camera snaped some shots and tended to my brisket

any way i had a little taste likovod shabbos kodesh of course and it was very good anyway i have to get back to the kitchen

i was driving down the street aimlessly minding my own buisness when i happened to notice a fairly nice car so i summened up my courage and asked the owner if i could take it for a spin in the lot that i had followed him into and sure enough he said i would love to give it to you and he couldnt think of a decent resaon not to give it to me but no he didnt let :{ oh well i was not shocked at all being that i expected the guy to say f-off this is my car go buy your own little toys but he did let me get some pics

i heard today that moshiach is coming soon and that all jews must move to Israel right away because more terible crazy unnatural things are going to happen in the US and elsewhere and Israel is the only safe place so for those of you who are currently packing up for the big move and are looking to make some money while waiting in israel for the rebbe to reveal himself i have the perfect buisness

well i guess iam supposed to bore anyone reading this with my life story so here it is {i don't want to bore you to much so i will give you the short version}i was born and raised in louisville kentucky 8 days in to my life i was circumcised it hurt so much i couldn't walk till i was 2 yrs old then when i was three i had my first haircut it was alot of fun or so i hear i dont really remember anyway 8 yrs latter i went to pittsburgh for schooling 3 yrs latter i served my time in california the next 2 yrs i was in boston followed by a year in sunny florida and a year in not so sunny montreal
